About Liz
Liz McNaney has lived in Upper Gwynedd since 1993 and has served on the board of Commissioners since 2018. During her tenure on the Board, Liz has helped implement various initiatives to enhance transparency within the township, ensuring that residents stay informed about local developments.
Liz is dedicated to managing taxpayer funds responsibly. Her strategic financial plans not only address immediate needs but also prepare for long-term investments and improvements, ensuring the effective use of tax dollars.
Liz's favorite aspect of being a Commissioner is interacting with residents at township events, in their homes, or throughout the community.
Having lived in Montgomery County her entire life, Liz only left to attend the University of South Florida, where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She also holds a Master's Degree in Education. Before taking time off to raise her three sons, who all graduated from North Penn, she spent many years teaching Kindergarten in a nearby public school district.
In addition to her commitment to community service, Liz is an ambassador for the Gift of Life organization and serves on the Board of Directors for Nor-Gwyn Baseball and Softball. She also dedicates her time to tutoring children requiring additional assistance with reading skills.
In 2023, Governor Shapiro appointed her to the Local Government Advisory Committee, which represents all 93 first-class townships within the Commonwealth.
Furthermore, Liz is a member of the Executive Committee for the Pennsylvania Association of Township Commissioners (PSATC) and participates in their subcommittee that focuses on the organization's website, outreach initiatives, and social media platforms. As the Executive Director of the Montgomery County Association of Township Commissioners (MCATC), she collaborates with the other twelve first-class townships in Montgomery County to address various community issues. Recently, Liz joined the Legislative Committee of the Pennsylvania Municipal League (PML) and is involved in their Municipal Finance Subcommittee.
Her engagement with these diverse organizations significantly enhances Liz's capacity to fulfill her responsibilities as a commissioner in our township. She draws upon her experience, knowledge, and resources to inform sound decision-making and to introduce innovative ideas in Upper Gwynedd.
